MIT and Arizona State University Create Stacked Master's Degree on EdX
A new collaboration between edX, Arizona State University and MIT has resulted in an online master's degree program in Supply Chain Management that stacks credits from both universities. Students who complete the MIT Supply Chain Management MicroMasters program and then apply and gain admission to ASU can then earn a graduate degree from ASU's W. P. Carey School of Business and ASU Online, all on edX.
"We are excited to strengthen our relationship with ASU to offer this innovative, top-ranked online Master's degree program in Supply Chain Management," said Anant Agarwal, edX CEO and MIT professor, in a statement. "This announcement comes at a time when the workplace is changing more rapidly than ever before, and employers are in need of highly skilled talent, especially in the fields most impacted by advances in technology. This new offering truly transforms traditional graduate education by bringing together two top-ranked schools in supply chain management to create the world's first stackable, hybrid graduate degree program. This approach to a stackable, flexible, top-quality online Master's degree is the latest milestone in addressing today's global skills gap."
With this MIT-ASU pathway, the MIT Supply Chain Management MicroMasters program now boasts 21 institutions where learners can continue on to earn a master's degree. The new ASU program is the only one where learners can complete their degree within the edX platform.
"Learners who complete the MITx MicroMasters program credential from the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics will now have the opportunity to transition seamlessly online to a full Master's degree from ASU," said Krishna Rajagopal, dean for digital learning at MIT Open Learning. "We are delighted to add this program to MIT's growing number of pathways that provide learners with increased access to higher education and career advancement opportunities in a flexible, affordable manner."
