Class Adds New Virtual Teaching Tools

Class, software that adds teaching and learning tools to the Zoom meeting platform, has introduced a number of new and updated features designed to improve the virtual and hybrid user experience. Among the product enhancements, according to a news announcement:

  • Enhanced breakout rooms, which allow instructors to monitor activity across all breakouts, send content to specific rooms and more;
  • The ability to distribute surveys within a class;
  • Chat bubbles on videos to indicate unread messages;
  • Video search for locating specific participants;
  • Sortability by "actions," allowing instructors to identify learners who are trying to communicate with them;
  • Privacy mode, enabling individual privacy settings;
  • Attendance tracking;
  • Class roster;
  • Tools for importing and exporting data across class roster, attendance and other areas; and
  • Stability and scalability improvements.

In addition, the company announced new instructor tools for managing a class via iPad and Android, as well as a beta version of Class on Web, which delivers the software via web browser.

"This update focuses on stability for Class software across the board, marking another important moment for our team as we prioritize the Class user experience," commented Michael Chasen, Class co-founder and CEO, in a statement. "This product release has allowed us to further create a seamless teaching and learning experience rooted in building authentic connection in virtual and hybrid educational environments."
