Barco Launches 2k Projectors
Barco this week launched three new projectors in its DP series of DLP-based, cinema-grade projectors. The new models each offer 2k resolution, supporting screens up to 98 feet.
Topping the all-new lineup, which debuted this week in Las Vegas at the ShoWest Expo, the DP-3000 is designed for large venues, supporting screens up to 98 feet wide. Using three Texas Instruments 1.2-inch DLP Cinema chips, the projector offers 2k resolution (2,048 x 1,080) and a contrast ratio of 2,000:1.
The two other projectors introduced this week--the DP-1500 (pictured) and the DP-2000--are designed for mid-sized venues. The DP-1500 supports screens up to 49 feet wide, and the DP-2000 supports screens up to 65 feet wide. Both of these models use three 0.98-inch DLP Cinema DMDs from TI, offering 2,048 x 1,080 resolution. Barco said the smaller chip "translates directly into a smaller, more compact package, lower power consumption, lower operating costs and longer lamp run-times...."
All three projectors are designed for both 2D and 3D applications, according to Barco, and all use the company's new Communicator touch panel for operation. Other features include:
- Sealed engine for optical path protection;
- Optional SNMP agent for local or remote monitoring; and
- Support for all DCI-compliant servers.
Further information, such as pricing, was not available at press time.
