Citel Launches VoIP Adapter

Citel has rolled out a new adapter that helps convert existing PBX-based phones into IP phones using existing wiring. The technology, called Portico Telephone VoIP Adapter (TVA), offers the feature set of VoIP without the need to modify or replace the current infrastructure.

Portico TVA allows PBX handsets to connect to an IP-based PBX or to a hosted IP network. A Web browser is used for enhanced VoIP features, such as click to call, simultaneous ringing, and Microsoft Outlook integration, according to Citel.

The system interoperates with a variety of platforms, including Asterisk, Avaya, Pingtel, BroadSoft, Sylantro. And it works with more than 100 handset types from Avaya Definity, Ericsson, NEC, Nortel, Panasonic DBS, Toshiba Strata DK, and others.

Citel Portico TVA is available in two versions: a digital version and a P-phone/analog version.
