U Virginia Business School Deploys Ektron CMS400.NET

The University of Virginia's Darden School of Business has adopted Ektron CMS400.NET for Web content management.

The school, founded in 1954, wanted to revamp its site to provide updated content to a variety of viewers, including prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, and staff. But it also wanted to create a system tat would allow non-technically iterate staff to update content.

Prior to the implementation, the school's site required the Web development team to upload content manually and sometimes even make changes to the content themselves, as many of the departmental staff members were not proficient in the use of the school's HTML editor of choice.

Sounds familiar.

CMS400.NET is a native .NET content and document management system that provides site analytics, blogs, wikis, forums and message boards, subscripts, Web alerts, and other features. It also provides a forms engine, broken ink checker, and compliance checker.

The latest release, version 7.0, also adds:
  • Hierarchal structures for Web pages and documents;
  • A new search language API that provides improved performance, results rankings, greater accuracy, and customized search queries;
  • Support for wiki directories;
  • Improvements to forums, including paging, RSS subscriptions, automatic restricted word replacement, and other features;
  • Blog creation and moderation by registered users; and
  • Enhancements to the Ektron Markup Language.
Darden is also using the new system to provide integrated marketing and the addition of various multimedia features, such as podcasts, streaming video and slideshows. The school's CMS400.NET site is currently live.
