D2L Releases Learning Environment 8.2

Education software developer Desire2Learn is releasing version 8.2 of its flagship Desire2Learn Learning Environment starting June 1. The new version expands and optimizes LE's capabilities and introduces new features to enhance the user experience.

Learning Environment is D2L's core e-learning system, providing tools for course management, development, and delivery, along with a suite of collaboration, learning, and assessment tools. The new features in 8.2 focus on expanding existing features and bringing in some new capabilities. These include:

Integrated collaboration tools, including peer to peer and group collaboration;
Group discussions, "lockers," and dropboxes;
Enhanced user interface;
Expanded Competencies and Rubrics framework, including grades and discussions; and
Various enhancements to course management functionality to make course development faster.

The new version ships June 1. D2L said it will be demonstrating the new capabilities at various education trade shows in the near future.
