Full Sail Dishes Out Macs to Creative Students

Creative arts college Full Sail Real World Education in Orlando, FL will be handing out Apple MacBook Pro systems to students across six disciplines. The notebooks will be pre-loaded with Apple's pro-level creative software, including the Final Cut Studio and Logic Pro.

Through the program, called Project LaunchBox, students in music, film, games, animation, and design will receive the complete mobile studio consisting of a MacBook Pro (an Intel Core 2 Duo-based notebook system); Logic Pro 7, a suite designed for music creation, mixing, recording, and arranging; Final Cut Studio, a suite that includes video editing, sound production, DVD authoring, and motion graphics tools; and various other creative and productivity tools. According to one Full Sail student, the systems are made available through an institutional fee that is applied to students enrolled from March of this year onward; it's optional for students who were enrolled prior to that.

Said Garry Jones, president of Full Sail, "Apple has proven over time to be a pioneer and a leader in the creative industries, making its products and solutions the obvious choice for Full Sail. With a MacBook Pro and powerful software such as Final Cut Studio, Project LaunchBox enables students to express unique stories digitally without limits."

Full Sail's programs are designed to prepare students for careers in the entertainment industry and has graduated students involved in Oscar-, Grammy-, and Emmy-winning projects. It serves about 5,000 students currently and has about 25,000 alumni.
