Unicon Launches Sakai Pilot Program

Technology integrator Unicon has launched a new program for education institutions looking to adopt Sakai as their learning management system. The program, dubbed the Sakai Pilot Program, is a hosted service that allows universities to deploy Sakai for six months for 500 users.

The Sakai Collaboration and Learning Environment is an open-source course management system targeted toward schools, colleges, and universities.

Unicon's pilot program includes installation, configuration, and MySQL database integration, along with Webinar training for staff and limited brand customization. "Additional levels of support, service, and customization are also available," according to Unicon.

The company said that the complete six-month package for 500 users will run $4,995 and will include all Sakai Core and Provisional tools.

Sakai supports Mac OS X, Windows, and various flavors of Unix.
