Adobe To Release Flex Builder 2 Free for Education Users

Adobe last week announced its intention to release Flex Builder 2 free for students and faculty at education institutions. Flex Builder, which retails for $499, is an integrated development environment for the Flex framework, which powers cross-platform rich Internet applications on the Web.

Built on the Eclipse IDE, Flex Builder 2 provides a suite of tools and libraries for developing Flex apps and extending applications built using Ajax. It includes editors for MXML, ActionScript, and CSS; an incremental compiler; interactive debugging features; and libraries of interactive design elements, among other features.

Flex Builder 2 will be available free for educators and students beginning in November. It supports Mac OS X and Windows environments. See the links below for more information.
