Mitsubishi Ships SXGA+ Projector with DICOM Simulation

Mitsubishi has begun shipping a new LCD-based SXGA+ projector aimed at higher education, specifically medical schools. The new MH2850U, according to Mitsubishi, is "specially engineered for projecting DICOM simulation images for use in medical education and training."

The MH2850U features a resolution of 1,400 x 1,050, a brightness of 3,100 ANSI lumens, and a contrast ratio of 600:1. And it offers both Clearbase and Bluebase DICOM simulation modes for viewing X-ray graphics, CAT scans, MRIs, and other medical images.

"Our customers in higher education, especially medical schools, require the most precise imaging technology in this demanding market. Great detail, clarity and color performance is never to be compromised in medical training and education," said James Chan, senior director of product marketing for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, in a statement released Tuesday. "And in today's economy, a good initial purchase price plus the low cost of ownership makes this projector even more attractive for med schools with budget constraints."

Other features include:

  • Network management via RJ-45 connector;
  • RS-232c connectivity;
  • DVI-D with HDCP, two Mini D-Sub 15-pin connectors, S-video, composite video, two stereo minijacks, and RCA audio L/R;
  • Estimated 5,000-hour lamp life in economy mode;
  • Side-loading lamp design; and
  • Integrated security features, including an anti-theft security hook and password menu lock.
