Desire2Learn Campus Life Takes Communications Mobile

Campus Life provides access to the Desire2Learn Learning Environment.

Desire2Learn has released Campus Life, a new mobile communications and collaboration tool for education.

Campus Life is a mobile portal for Android, iOS, and BlackBerry devices that provides access to campus information and services, including access to the learning management system, news, calendar, audio and video, and directories.

According to the company, Campus Life, built on Amazon's Elastic Cloud Compute platform, can work with the Desire2Learn Learning Environment (Desire2Learn's flagship LMS) or in conjunction with other technologies or as a standalone tool. Other features include:

  • Access to course content and discussions;
  • Support for library services;
  • Gradebook access;
  • Ingest of any RSS feed;
  • Video conversion services for creating "mobile-friendly" video; and
  • Support for social networking, including Facebook and Twitter.

The software also supports institutional branding.

Campus Life is available now for Android, iOS, and BlackBerry devices. Desire2Learn is also hosting a Webinar this Friday at 2 p.m. Eastern to introduce users to the software. Further information can be found here.
