NEC has introduced a new portable, 3D-capable classroom projector that includes wired network connectivity and offers a brightness of 3,000 lumens for less than $800.

The new the V300X is a portable, 5.5-pound DLP-based projector that features a resolution of 1,024 x 768 (XGA) and a contrast ratio of 2,000:1. In economy mode, the unit projects 80 percent of its maximum brightness and offers a lamp life of about 5,000 hours (3,000 hours in normal mode at a brightness of 3,000 lumens). The 3D-capable projector includes built-in wall correction presets and BrilliantColor technology for color adjustments. It also includes a utility that allows the projector to be controlled via a computer without additional cables.

Other features include:

  • RJ-45 port for LAN-based monitoring and control (10Base-T/100Base-TX compatibility);
  • RS-232 and IR control ports;
  • ±40 degree vertical keystone correction;
  • Integrated carbon savings meter;
  • 1.1x manual zoom lens (with manual focus); and
  • 7 watt integrated mono speaker.

AV inputs include HDMI, dual RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin), S-video, composite video, 3.5 mm stereo minijack in, monitor out (RGB, mini D-sub 15-pin). and variable audio out.
