Panasonic has rolled out a trio of midrange portable LCD projectors for classroom presentations, two of them--including one WXGA-resolution model--coming in at less than $900.

The new PT-LW25H series consists of three individual models: the PT-LW25HU, the PT-LX30HU, and the PT-LX26HU.

On the high end of the resolution spectrum, the PT-LW25HU offers a resolution of 1,280 x 800 (WXGA), a brightness of 2,500 lumens, and a contrast ratio of 3,000:1. The PT-LX30H offers a resolution of 1,024 x 768 (XGA), a brightness of 3,000 lumens, and a contrast ratio of 2,500:1. The lower-end PT-LX26H is also an XGA model with a brightness of 2,600 lumens and a contrast ratio of 2,500:1.

All of the new models offer wired LAN connectivity.

Features common to all of the new models include:

  • Real-time keystone correction ±20 degrees vertical or ±30 degrees when not using real-time correction;
  • 1.2x manual zoom;
  • 1 watt mono speaker; and
  • A lamp life of up to 4,000 hours;

AV inputs for all three include dual RGB/component (mini D-sub 15-pin), composite video, stereo RCA audio, and stereo minijack. The mini D-sub port can also be used to input S-video signals with an adapter. In addition, the second mini D-sub port can be used as a monitor out port. Networking and control ports include LAN (RJ-45, 10Base-T/100Base-TX) and RS-232.

The models weigh in at 6.6 pounds and measure 13.7" (w) x 4.1" (h) x 9.7" (d).

The WXGA PT-LW25HU sells for $899, the 3,000-lumen PT-LX30HU for $1,099, and the lower-end PT-LX26HU for $849. All of the new models are available now. Additional details can be found on Panasonic's projector portal.
