PBS LearningMedia Adds Premium Tier for Educational Resources

PBS and its member stations are adding a new premium tier to the PBS LearningMedia service.

Launched this week at the ISTE 2013 conference, taking place in San Antonio, TX, the new PBS LearningMedia Custom Service adds several new tools for customization and analysis, plus substantially more PBS programming.

PBS LearningMedia is a free service that provides educators with access to PBS resources, including footage, games, images, and lesson plans, among other materials designed for both K-12 and post-secondary education.

The new premium (paid) service includes more than 800 hours of additional PBS programming from shows like Frontline, Nova, and various children's shows. It also adds:

  • New user management tools;
  • Analytics;
  • Tools for standards alignment; and
  • Content management features "allowing for the upload and contextualization of local content," according to PBS.

The PBS LearningMedia Custom Service is available for purchase now. Pricing was not disclosed. PBS is exhibiting in booth 10270 at the ISTE conference through June 26. Additional details can be found on the PBS LearningMedia site.
