Western Governors U To Launch Journal of Competency Ed

Western Governors University (WGU) is teaming with Wiley to launch The Journal of Competency-Based Education, a scholarly publication focused on competency-based education (CBE) with policy makers, practitioners and researchers as the intended audience.

The first editor of the journal will be WGU's Vice President for Academic Advancement Sally M. Johnstone and the editorial board will comprise CBE leaders from across the nation. The first issue is slated for the beginning of 2016 and an initial call for submissions will be issued by early July.

"Competency-based education is now receiving widespread recognition as an effective — and efficient — model for post-secondary education," said Johnstone, in a prepared statement. "Our objective in establishing this journal is to provide a reputable source of research and information on all elements of competency-based education."

More information about the journal is available at wgu.edu.
