D2L Adds Virtual Classrooms to Brightspace

D2L has updated its learning management system (LMS), Brightspace, with integrated virtual classroom capabilities.

Slated for availability beginning August 4, the new virtual classroom feature is the result of a partnership with YouSeeU and will allow teachers to schedule, record and deliver livew videoconferences from within the LMS. "They can increase engagement by conducting live, two-way discussions with classes, holding video-based training, conducting office hours and more," according to a news release. "Video sessions can be automatically recorded and embedded seamlessly into a course."

"Today's students are growing up with advanced social and mobile technologies and they expect the same dynamic experience when learning," said John Baker, CEO of D2L, in a prepared statement. "By integrating virtual classroom capabilities into Brightspace we can make it easy to have visual, two-way communication between learners and instructors that is engaging and collaborative."
