MNSCU'S new accountability dashboard monitors
performance and tracks strategic goals.

$600k in annual savings for Colorado
State University's College of Veterinary
Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The
web-based software automates the college's
extensive financial reporting for
grant recipients, taking the place of three
weeks of staff time per month.
IMPROVING ON 3LCD. Sanyo, manufacturer
of LCD and DLP projectors, has
introduced a new 4LCD optical engine,
which adds a color-control device to
conventional 3LCD (red/green/blue)
systems. The proprietary colorcontrol
device allows a projector to
automatically control the amount of
yellow light in an image, producing
higher luminosity with improved
color accuracy and clarity, according
to company representatives. The
first projector to feature the 4LCD
engine, Sanyo's PLC-XP200L
model, ships next month with an
MSRP of $9,995.
DRIVING PERFORMANCE.
A new accountability dashboard
application designed by iBusiness
Solutions will monitor performance across
the Minnesota State Colleges &
Universities system. The interactive,
web-based dashboard provides 10
key performance measures tied to
MNSCU system strategic goals (such
as access and opportunity, quality
programs and services, and meeting
state and regional economic needs).
MNSCU staff, state legislators, and
the public can access and drill down
on the data here.
PRIMO PORTAL. The University of
Notre Dame's (IN) Hesburgh Libraries,
in conjunction with the Michiana Academic
Library Consortium,
have selected the Primo library search
and access tool from Ex Libris to serve as the university's
primary library portal. The
Primo software will provide a single
interface for discovery and delivery of
local and remote resources, including
books, journal articles, and digital
objects within the libraries' collections.

ACUTA NAME CHANGE. Industry
association ACUTA has changed its name to the Association
for Information Communications
Technology Professionals in Higher
Education. The addition of the word
"Information" in the name reflects the
evolving roles of ACUTA members as
they manage today's converging voice
and data networks.
KEEPING AN EYE ON
EDUCATION. Sony has launched
an end-user benefits program called
"Eye on Education", offering education
institutions competitive pricing, exclusive
service and support capabilities,
extended warranties, financing options,
and trade-in opportunities for Sony professional
display products. Special pricing
on 12 projector models ranges from
$584 to $2,069 (without the need for
rebates), with six of the 12 projectors
priced under $1,000. In addition, education
customers who purchase projector
models VPL-CX100, VPL-CX120,
VPL-EX5, or VPL-EX50 before Sept.
30 can receive an extra lamp for free
(with mail-in rebate).

PRES. Toshiba

Systems (TAIS)
has named Mark
Simons president
and CEO. Simons
will succeed Masa Fukakushi,
who will become chairman and
CEO of Toshiba America. Prior to
his new position, Simons served
for more than 15 years at TAIS,
most recently as VP and general
manager.
TOPSCHOOL EXECS. TopSchool, a SaaS
provider of administrative solutions
for higher ed institutions, has
announced the appointments of
Matthew Schnittman and Justin
McMorrow as president/CEO and
senior VP of sales and marketing,
respectively. Both execs came from eCollege,
where Schnittman served as president
and McMorrow as VP of sales
and business development.
