Santa Clara Signs onto EthicsPoint Reporting Service

Santa Clara University has gone public with its deployment of an ethics hotline and reporting system from EthicsPoint that enables members of the campus community to confidentially report issues or concerns related to criminal or unethical or otherwise inappropriate behavior, including discrimination, harassment, campus safety, cheating, and substance abuse.

The system implementation was managed by Harry Fong, association VP for finance, who sought a way to manage risk on the campus. "Without some mechanism to report, we may not know about a situation until it becomes a claim. By then it's too late, said Fong. "EthicsPoint is one part of SCU's plan to run as effectively as possible. It allows us to respond to situations early, which saves us time and money."

Any report that is made through EthicsPoint automatically enters a centralized database. The appropriate personnel are assigned to investigate the reported incident with guidance from the general counsel and risk management experts. Reports can be filed through a contact center, a website, a manager-submitted form, investigator or auditor reporting, or custom forms.

EthicsPoint is in use at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY; Indiana University in Bloomington;, and Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
