Vidyo Brings HD Videoconferencing Integration to IBM Lotus Sametime

Vidyo has launched a new plugin that enables HD video conferencing on IBM Lotus Sametime, a communications and collaboration platform that offers presence-awareness, document sharing, screen sharing, and application sharing, as well as text, voice, and video communications.

The new plugin lets Sametime users launch the H.264-based VidyoDesktop software from within a Sametime session (such as a chat session) and use it for point-to-point or multipoint video conferencing.

The software encodes up to 720p/30 and decodes up to 1,440p/30 (depending on hardware) while offering the ability to personalize screen layout and orientation. Control options include the ability to change the number of viewed participants, a self view option, the ability to toggle between participants, and the ability to toggle between multiple shared applications.

Other features include acoustic echo cancellation and a privacy mode that mutes audio.

The plugin supports IBM Lotus Sametime Connect Client versions 8.0.2 and 7.5.1, as well as IBM Lotus Domino Community Server version 7.5.1. Supported operating systems include Mac OS X (10.5 or higher) and Windows XP, Vista, and 7.
