Trends to Watch
How will artificial intelligence impact colleges and universities this year? MoreIn 2024, experts say that AI-based tools will enable threat actors to dramatically increase both the quantity and impact of their attacks â and attacks are more likely to focus on stealing valuable data than on ransom payments. Compliance will continue to grow in complexity, and cyber insurance will likely see rates stay flat or dip slightly.
MoreIncreasing workloads are taking a toll on mental health and morale among teaching and learning professionals in higher education, according to a new Educause survey. Nearly two-thirds of overall respondents (65%) reported having an excessive workload â and the higher the position level, the greater the workload. More
Notable Numbers
New research from Malwarebytes ThreatDown analysts shows that 2023 was the "worst year on record" for education, with a 70% increase in known ransomware attacks targeting higher education institutions globally, and nearly half of those in the United States. MoreAccording to IBM's 2023 AI Adoption Index survey of enterprise-scale companies worldwide, about the same number (42%) adopted AI early on as those who are still exploring or experimenting with it (40%). But of those who adopted AI early, 59% are accelerating their use or investment in it. More
