Office X3 Home and Student Edition Ships

Corel recently debuted its WordPerfect Office X3 home and student edition. The latest edition of Corel's office suite includes basic office software, as well as WordPerfect Lightning, a digital notebook designed to assist research and Web collaboration.

WordPerfect Lightning, available for free from the company's website, is a word processor designed for note taking. The software is designed to allow users to view information from the Internet within the application and take notes and organize and save that information. Yahoo Search is embedded in the program for Web browsing, and collected information can be shared over the Internet.

The company designed the software for Adobe Acrobat compatibility. According to Corel, PDF files can be edited and reused in WordPerfect and spreadsheets can be saved as PDF files. In addition, the software is designed to open more than 150 types of files.

The new office suite includes:

  • WordPerfect for word processing;
  • Quattro Pro for spreadsheets;
  • Presentations for multimedia slideshows; and
  • WordPerfect Lightning for information gathering and collaboration.

WordPerfect Office X3 home and student edition lists for $99.
