Mount Holyoke Enhances Video Surveillance

Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA will be deploying new software to enhance security via video. The college has selected Cernium's Perceptrak video analytics software, integrated with Milestone Systems' XProtect Enterprise IP video management software for its 2,200-student campus.

"Perceptrak provides our campus community with an additional layer of security," said Doug Vanderpoel, director, auxiliary services at the college. "The intelligent video technology immediately alerts security personnel to suspicious activity, allowing for a more proactive response to potential incidents."

Perceptrak analyzes video from security cameras for events of interest and adds meta data about the content, enabling organizations to monitor, manage, distribute, store, and query video. Security operators are alerted in real time to situations that require attention, and a database of events simplifies searches for critical video information during investigations. Milestone's IP video management software enables operators to centrally, locally, or remotely view live or recorded video from multiple locations simultaneously. Perceptrak integrates with the Milestone software as well as other video management systems.

Other institutions using Perceptrak include Johns Hopkins University and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus in Minneapolis. Milestone users include the University at Buffalo (part of SUNY) and DePaul University in Chicago.
