AMX has launched a new AV control system for Android-based smart phones. A version for iOS-based devices was already available.

The app, AMX TPControl, turns Android-based devices into touch panels that can control systems running on the AMX platform, ranging from HVAC, lighting, and electronic shades to AV devices. The software integrates with AMX TPDesign4 and can connect via WiFI or various telecommunications protocols, including 3G and Edge. A device running the app appears as a "native AMX Netlinx Device within your control system environment," according to AMX.

The software offers support for custom touch panel interfaces created using TPDesign4, including custom buttons, font effects, pop-up effects, graphs and meters, sounds, multitouch gestures, and several other UI elements. The Android version also includes support for multiple resolutions.

A 21-day free trial of AMX TPControl for Android is available now through the Android Market. Further details can be found here.
