edX Students To Use Free Elsevier Online Textbook

Elsevier, a publisher of scientific and health information, is providing free content to edX, a nonprofit online learning program formed by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Elsevier is giving access to course textbook Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits online to students in edX course 6.002X: Circuits and Electronics.

edX offers free online courses to anybody worldwide through Harvard University, MIT, and the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, they include Introduction to Solid State Chemistry, Introduction to Computer Science I, Software as a Service, Circuits and Electronics, Health in Numbers: Quantitative Methods in Clinical & Public Health Research, Artificial Intelligence, and Introduction to Computer Science and Programming.

"This book attempts to satisfy two goals: combine circuits and electronics into a single, unified treatment, and establish a strong connection with the contemporary world of digital systems. It will introduce a new way of looking not only at the treatment of circuits, but also at the treatment of introductory coursework in engineering in general," says a description of the book.

Students previously enrolled in the same course before the formation of Cambridge, MA-based edX also received free access to the same textbook, which is authored by Anant Agarwal, president of edX, and Jeffrey Lang.
