KUBI robot

Revolve Robotics has announced KUBI Video 2.0, the latest version of its video collaboration app for its flagship KUBI robotic telepresence platform. KUBI is a cradle for tablets that functions (in conjunction with the app) as a telepresence robot that can be "driven" by a remote videoconference participant. Remote callers can use KUBI to "look around" and actively engage with others in the room.

One of the main features of KUBI Video 2.0 is the ability to "teleport" from one KUBI to another, anywhere in the world. A remote caller can click a link to move from meeting to meeting on campus or across the country, without the need for in-room videoconferencing equipment or robotic wheels that drive from room to room.

Other features include:

  • 720p video and high-quality audio (depending on iPad used);
  • Peer-to-peer video calling with integrated controls for the KUBI robot;
  • KUBI motion controls via Bluetooth 4.0;
  • Video calling controls (turn video on/off, mute/unmute audio, full screen option);
  • Portrait or landscape mode;
  • Auto-connect and reconnect KUBI Bluetooth 4.0 connection;
  • Unique URL for remote login to KUBI video and controls;
  • KUBI low battery indicator;
  • KUBI proximity displayed on "Available KUBI" list;
  • KUBI video app with tap-to-center controls can also be used for remote controls on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch; and
  • WiFi, 4G/LTE and 3G network compatibility.

A live demo is available at the KUBI site.
