With requirements management a critical component of providing integrated, end-to-end application lifecycle management, Serena Software, provider of application lifecycle solutions, has released Requirements & Traceability Management (RTM) 5.5. The newly redesigned interface makes it easy for users to specify, analyze, and manage requirements across a broad range of projects throughout the application lifecycle. The price is $2,000 per named user and $6,000 for an unlimited number of concurrent users (with a limitation of one user at a time).

High-Performance Mesh Network

On the heels of VoIP, Firetide, a wireless mesh network provider has broadened its applications by releasing HotPort, a high-performance mesh network. HotPort is a mesh backbone that supports multiple simultaneous applications and services, designed specifically for high-bandwidth/low latency applications, such as video surveillance networks and Voice-over-IP services. HotPort is priced at $895 (indoor) and $1,995 (outdoor).

Now shipping, Crestron’s UPX2 Universal Presentation system integrates touch panel control with a pen-based annotator, video switcher, multi-window digital video processor, and embedded multimedia PC. To present multiple video and computer sources, stream digital media, explore Web sites, annotate over any image, and control the complete presentation, the UPX2 assembles a host of popular presentation features into a single, rack-mount processor. Separate touch panel and audience display outputs put the presenter in complete control of what the audience sees. Price is $9,000 (not including installation).

Unifying the Digital Campus

The release of SunGard’s SCT Banner 7 marks a milestone in the company’s support of open standards and interoperable systems. Announced in Honolulu at the SunGard Summit User Conference this spring, Banner is a more integrated administrative software suite for managing student information, advancement, finance, financial aid, human resources, advising, and faculty support. Pricing varies depending on institution size.

NetSupport DNA Helpdesk 2.0 is a fully web-based solution providing detailed recording and tracking of user help requests. DNA Helpdesk is available as a component of NetSupport’s DNA asset management software, or as a standalone product. Because Helpdesk is web-based, help desk professionals have access to issues from any browser, anywhere, any time. And since it's on the Web, deployment costs are minimized—there is nothing to install on client machines. Price: $1,699 (for three operators). Each additional help desk is $400.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, the IBM M400 projector weighs in at mere 2.4 lbs and is microportable, with a footprint about half the size of a sheet of letterhead paper.
