Alternative Face-to-Face Communication

Rutgers University (NJ) recently adopted Sony's PCS-TL50 IP-based desktop videoconferencing unit, part of Sony's IPELA technology line (Integrated Visual Communication, person-to-person, location-to-location) that enables institutions to conduct regular meetings across its campuses. PCS-TL50 has a 20-inch LCD monitor and doubles as a PC monitor with an embedded camera, microphone, and speakers. "In the past, driving to and from in-person meetings has been the first, preferred method for our deans to gather together, and changing such embedded habits is difficult,†says Raphel J.
