Free Directory To Provide Resources for Serious Games

The Serious Games Association (SGA) will launch the Serious Games Directory, a new free resource for educators, developers, analysts, consultants, and providers.

The international directory will allow users to submit links, screenshots, photos, and videos of their products and services and will be searchable by platform, developer, market, audience, and topic, among others.

Academic institutions are invited to share information about courses and degrees related to serious games. Other commercially available resources covered by the directory will include:

  • Games and sims;
  • Developers available for contract;
  • Technology and other tools;
  • Consultants;
  • Industry analysts; and
  • Textbooks.

Games and sims will be organized by market, including education, corporate, military and government, healthcare, and games for good.

Scheduled for availability in 2012, the directory will feature free general information on listings for all users with more in depth information available to SGA members.

Serious games are games developed primarily for reasons other than entertainment. SGA membership is open to all individuals in the serious games community at $35 per year. The organization provides research, the opportunity to participate in special interest groups and committees, awards and certifications for games, and other services to members.
