Universities Implement Managed IT Service Solutions

Azusa Pacific Online University in California and Naropa University in Colorado have implemented a managed service to provide daily support services, software updates, and hosted and cloud services.

At the Educause 2012 conference in Denver this week, Jenzabar, a provider of software, strategies, and services for higher education, reported that these two universities have recently implemented Jenzabar managed services.

Naropa University had been struggling with inadequate space, cooling, and electrical supplies in its data centers and a shortage of staff in its IT department. "Mission critical services were facing outages," said Dave Edminster, director of information technology at Naropa University, in a prepared statement.

All of the university's contracted servers and services now operate in Jenzabar's hosted environment. "We no longer worry about outages and can serve our staff and students quickly, and almost just as important, we are able to do this without breaking the bank," added Edminster.

Azusa Pacific Online University has been operating for less than one year and had no IT infrastructure. The university started with a strategic goal of using all hosted systems and selected Jenzabar. The online startup has served more than 400 students to date and credited Jenzabar for contributing to its success.

"A key component of our success was Jenzabar's willingness to use a rapid deployment methodology, bringing us live in less than 100 days," said Don Davis, vice president and chief operating office or Azusa Pacific Online University, in a prepared statement. "Jenzabar is a turnkey solution for Azusa. Our IT department can focus on giving staff the service and troubleshooting they need."

Jenzabar's managed service solutions for higher education include cloud hosted applications, fully managed infrastructure and applications, and virtual infrastructure hosting.

Jenzabar is exhibiting at the Educause conference in Denver this week in booth 1001. Additional details can be found at Jenzabar's site.
