Bond University Uses Reporting Tool to Analyze Student Feedback

Bond University, a private institution located on the Gold Coast of Australia has found a new way to collect and efficiently analyze qualitative feedback received from student surveys and course evaluations.

The institution is using EvaluationKIT, a Web-based course evaluation system. The solution's newest feature, EvaluationKIT Text Analytics, is designed to analyze write-in comments submitted by students on surveys and course evaluations. Instructors choose the survey questions to be analyzed and the system produces a report. The institution's goal, according to Shelley Kinash, associate professor and director of learning and teaching, is to collect feedback that can't be generated from standard survey questions.

"Qualitative feedback from students is extremely useful in identifying common thoughts and viewpoints across large numbers of students," said Kinash, in a prepared statement. "Using EvaluationKIT Text Analytics, our student feedback data has become so much more powerful and meaningful. The students are the stakeholders who are best placed to evaluate the quality of their education. Through applying qualitatively analyzed feedback, we have made significant improvements to learning, teaching and the overall student experience."

Additional information about EvaluationKIT can be found online.
