Ithaca College Communications School Deploys StrongBox for Digital Content Preservation
Long-term content preservation is a major requirement at the Roy H. Park School of Communications at New York's Ithaca College. With academic programs ranging from television-radio and journalism to integrated marketing communications and documentary studies, the institution generates many terabytes of digital content.
When that content began to outgrow existing storage resources, the Park School turned to Crossroads Systems' StrongBox, a network-attached storage (NAS) appliance that provides scalable storage at a low cost per gigabyte. StrongBox combines Linear Tape File System (LTFS) technology with intelligent policy-based data protection to guarantee the reliability of stored content, according to a press release. It also allows the school to migrate data from primary storage into StrongBox as an archival destination, freeing up space on high-performance disk storage.
