Digital River, peerTransfer Partner on International Student Payments

Digital River and peerTransfer have partnered in an effort to make it easier for international students to make tuition payments.

peerTransfer's global payment platform is designed to offer "students from more than 200 countries and territories an easy-to-use, cost-effective way to pay their tuition, room and board at 650 colleges and universities located primarily in the" United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, according to a news release. Students or their families can use their local currency to make a payment or send funds via the method of their choice, often at discounted currency rates. The platform also includes a dashboard for students or administrators to monitor payments and reconciliations.

"peerTransfer is delighted to add Digital River to our suite of existing payment providers," said Mike Massaro, peerTransfer's chief executive officer, in a prepared statement. "Digital River allows us to lower transactional costs in key regions and countries while enabling us to increase the number of currencies in which we settle. The company's extensive global footprint and ability to support us as we scale our business will help expand our solution set to students in every corner of the globe.
