ED Expands College Scorecard Data

The Department of Education has updated the College Scorecard to include information on 2,100 additional postsecondary education options.

The United States Department of Education is making major enhancements to the College Scorecard. The tool now includes information on 2,100 non-degree granting institutions that only award certificates, as well as more comprehensive information about graduation rates. ED is also releasing downloadable preliminary information on student loan debt by field of study.

Thanks to the updates, the College Scorecard now includes information on graduation rates for non-first-time and non-full-time students and the percentage of students who transferred or were still enrolled in school. Previously, the tool only had graduation rates for first-time full-time students.

"We committed to students that we would continually improve the College Scorecard so that they could access relevant, accurate and actionable data as they make decisions about their education after high school," said Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. "The updates released today are another step in fulfilling that promise. We look forward to seeing how students, parents, institutions and researchers utilize this important information."

ED has also updated the College Scorecard to include the most recent data on average annual cost, graduation rates and student demographics from the National Center of Education Statistics Integrated Education Data System. ED now plans to update major data metrics that are available from IPEDS when subsets of data become available.
