Anthology Scenario Planning Forecasts Institutions' Economic Futures

A new feature in Anthology's Academic Economics tool uses predictive analytics to help institutions plan for possible financial futures.

Anthology Academic Economics tracks financial data for academic programs and courses, analyzing factors such as net tuition revenue by students per academic program, revenue and expenses by program, and tuition discount rate by program, all to aid in financial decision-making. The integrated Scenario Planning feature calculates how "strategic, data-informed changes" can impact the institution financially, according to the company. For example, administrators can forecast the effects of a future tuition rate change or tweaks to the institution's faculty coverage ratio.

The various financial breakdowns and comparative analyses are displayed in a series of dashboards and visualizations, the company said, allowing institutions to make year-over-year comparisons and identify operational improvements.

"Every institution needs to have this detailed information to help inform and guide their decision-making process," said Michael Leardi, assistant vice president of campus strategy for Anthology, in a statement. "Academic Economics doesn't need to make the decisions, but it should be paramount in the review and evaluation process. At the same time, the intent is to maximize resources to help the institution achieve their overall goals while balancing learning outcomes and financial operations."
