Talking Through Cyberspace: Internet-Based Connection Catching On

The University of Notre Dame is upgrading their 12,000 phone lines to operate on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). With 4.4 million VoIP users in the United States, colleges are catching on to what consumers already know. Instead of sending analog voice signals through a telephone wire, VoIP converts voice to data and sends it through the Internet. (South Bend Tribune)
