University of Maine System Chancellor to Step Down

Joseph Westphal, who has served as the chancellor of the University of Maine System for four years, announced that he will step down on June 30 and return to teaching as a full professor after a one-year sabbatical.

As chancellor of the University of Maine System, Westphal leads the presidents of the system’s seven constituent universities.

Notable among his strategic initiatives, Westphal led the system-wide Project Enterprise, implementing PeopleSoft (now part of Oracle) enterprise software throughout the university system for human resources management, financial management, and student information systems.
