Colgate University Implements Network Analysis Tool

Colgate University recently implemented NetMRI E-400, a network analysis and reporting tool from Netcordia. The new program will analyze Colgate's entire network, used by faculty, staff, and students in more than 100 locations.

"We're always looking for tools than make our life easier, and we tried other products with minimal success," said Jubel Caudill, Colgate's senior network and systems administrator, in a prepared statement. "NetMRI is an intuitive, user-friendly tool than not only identifies issues, but also places these issues in relative terms to each other, and offers descriptions and ranges for the parameters. It interprets information so it's easy to understand, even for those unfamiliar with the terms or concepts."

According to Netcordia, the technology allows Network engineers to find problems with in the system concerning VoIP, wireless, VPN, VLAN and IP areas and to help with network maintenance. NetMRI is designed to scan the infrastructure of a network based upon "expert rules and best practices."

Colgate University is a private liberal arts college, located in Hamilton, NY, with 2,750 students currently enrolled.
