Gateway's E-155CThin and Light Tablet

Gateway has unveiled the E-155C, a new convertible notebook weighing just 4.5 pounds. The tablet features a 12-inch widescreen display with digital pen and touchscreen capability; an Intel Core 2 Duo processor; plus an integrated biometric fingerprint reader for user authentication and data protection. And if the E-155C is turned off without the digital pen in its garage, the user is alerted with an audio alarm and flashing LED. Prices start at $1,849.99.

Epson's PowerLite 83cLow-Cost Projector

Epson has announced the PowerLite 83c, an LCD front projector featuring 2,200 lumens of output for use in well-lit rooms. The 83c also boasts a built-in closed captioning decoder; 7-watt speaker for multimedia presentations; wired LAN connectivity for remote monitoring and control; and Epson's E-TORL energy-efficient lamp technology, allowing the projector's lamp to last up to 4,000 hours. Price: $725 through Epson's Brighter Futures program, which provides special education pricing plus free extended warranty and tech support.

AMX’s NXP-PLV Modero PosiTrack Pilot Camera ControllerCamera Controller With Widescreen Display

Unveiled at the NAB 2007 digital electronics show in April, AMX's NXP-PLV Modero PosiTrack Pilot Camera Controller (a camera controller for live or recorded broadcast events, such as classroom lectures or complex videoconferences) supports up to six cameras, and features Ethernet connectivity plus a 7-inch Modero widescreen touchpanel. Using the graphical interface, the operator can select cameras, visually track and change their movement, store and recall presets, and adjust each camera's setting. The controller also includes a proportional pan/tilt/zoom joystick and controls for focus, iris, and speed. Suggested retail price: $7,995.

Samsung Opto-Electronics America's SDP-6500DXA Digital PresenterUpgraded Document Camera

Samsung Opto-Electronics America has introduced the SDP-6500DXA Digital Presenter document camera, able to reproduce high-quality digital images, without any loss, through a DVI output terminal. New features include an improved frame rate, USB 2.0 output for image capture, and redesigned light arms to eliminate interference with larger display materials. A 36x (12x optical plus 3x digital) auto-focus zoom allows documents or 3D objects to be enlarged clearly, and a built-in drawing function enables users to annotate directly over any image. MSRP: $4,750.

Toshiba's Satellite A205High-Speed Wireless Notebook

Toshiba's Digital Products Division has announced the Satellite A205 notebook computer series, featuring Intel's new Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN for 802.11n wireless connectivity. The 802.11n specification delivers greater bandwidth and transfer speeds up to five times faster than the previous 802.11g standard. The Satellite A205 also has a built-in webcam in the notebook's LCD bezel, for participating in live video chats, as well as a fingerprint reader for system security and replacement of typed passwords. Prices start at $999.99 (802.11n-enabled models start at $1,349.99).
