Optenet HostSecure Monitors Sites for Inappropriate User-Generated Content

Optenet, which sells IT security products, has launched HostSecure, a program that analyzes, detects, and reports inappropriate user-generated material on organizations' Web sites, blogs, and wikis.

"The volume of user-generated content on the Web is increasing exponentially. Manually monitoring that content for unacceptable or harmful text or images can be overwhelming," said Joel Silberman, Optenet's vice president for North America. "By enabling the detection and blocking of objectionable content, HostSecure addresses this escalating issue and minimizes the risk faced by these companies. With HostSecure, organizations can rest-assured and operate with confidence in knowing their sites will remain safe and reputable online destinations."

The software categorizes and, in some cases, removes content deemed inappropriate--including text, photos, and videos. HostSecure also provides reports in real time, giving the administrator a map of all content uploaded to the Web by its subscribers.
