NEC Launches LED-Illuminated Portable Projector

NEC has rolled out a new DLP-based WXGA-native portable projector that uses an LED light source with a lamp life of up to 20,000 hours.
The new NP-L50W has a native resolution of 1,280 x 800 (WXGA), a brightness of 500 lumens, and a contrast ratio of 2,000:1.
The new model uses built-in memory to display presentations, videos, documents, and still images without the immediate aid of a computer or external storage device. Its document viewer reads Microsoft Excel documents, Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, and Adobe PDF files.
For storing presentations and videos, the projector is equipped with 1 GB of internal memory and an SD slot that supports cards with capacities of up to 32 GB.
Additional features include:
- Filter-free design;
- Automatic shut down;
- Automatic power on;
- A 2-watt speaker;
- Quick power on/off;
- Economy mode;
- A 1.1x manual zoom lens;
- Wall color correction; and
- Automatic keystone correction of ±40 degrees.
The projector weighs 2.6 pounds and measures 6.9" (h) x 8.9" (w) x 1.7" (d).
AV inputs include HDMI, analog RGB/component (mini D-sub 15-pin), and composite video. Peripheral ports and AV outputs include a stereo minijack, USB type A , USB type B, and SD.
The unit is covered by a two-year parts and labor warranty and a one-year or 500-hour lamp warranty.
