Panasonic Announces New Displays and Projectors

Today at InfoComm 2012 in Las Vegas, Panasonic announced a range of new displays and projectors, from a compact projector, to large digital displays, to an interactive plasma display, many of which are suitable for applications in educational institutions. The new projectors include the PT-RZ470 and PT-RZ370 series, and the PT-VW431DU. The new displays include the LFV50, LF50 series, LF5 series, and PB1 series.

PT-RZ470 and PT-RZ370 Series
These two new professional projectors designed for educational institutions, museums, and digital signage use LEDs and laser diodes instead of conventional lamps to deliver over 3,000 lumens of brightness. The projectors are available in two resolutions: 1080p (1920 x 1080) and WXGA (1280 x 800). Each model also features Valens HDBaseT technology, allowing a single cable to transmit uncompressed HD videos, audio, and control commands up to 100 meters.

PT-VW431DU: 4,300 lumens, WXGA resolution
The PT-VW431DU is a compact-body projector. It features Panasonic's Digital Link technology (based on HDBaseT), which is intended to "simplify projector installation, wiring, and ongoing maintenance by sending audio, video (including uncompressed HD video), internet, controls, and power over a single Cat5/6 LAN cable," according to a company statement.

LFV50: LED video wall display
The LFV50 is a 55-inch, LED video wall display designed for digital signage, public information, and command and control applications in large venues. It provides 800 cd/m2 of brightness, so images are clearly visible even in daylight or other bright conditions. In lower-light conditions, the automatic dimmer adjusts accordingly to reduce power consumption. The display can operate in portrait or landscape mode and multiple displays can be daisy-chained together through a DVI-D connection.

LF50 Series: Large LED LCD displays
The LF50 series of LED LCD displays is available in both 70- and 80-inch models, offers 700 cd/m2 of brightness, and can operate in both portrait and landscape mode.

LF5 Series: Full-HD resolution
The LF5 series of entry-level displays offers full-HD resolution with a wide viewing angle and 500 cd/m2 of brightness. It is available in both 42- and 47-inch models.

PB1 Series: Interactive plasma displays
The PB1 series of interactive plasma displays offers full whiteboard and presentation capabilities designed for higher education institutions and corporate meeting rooms. The series uses a new electronic pen system that detects and displays the pen position 60 times a second on each pixel, and supports up to four pens at once for writing notes, drawing, or moving items around the screen. It also includes handwriting recognition software. The PB1 is available in 65-, 85-, and 103-inch sizes and features wireless connectivity with PC, Mac, iPad, and iPhone devices.
