HUGEdata and Nimbix Offer Cloud-Based Big Data Services

Nimbix, a provider of cloud-based high-performance computing infrastructure and applications, and big data analytics company HUGEdata have partnered to deliver converged big data and HPC cloud services.

Nimbix will manage the HUGEdata server infrastructure in its Dallas-based high-performance computing facility, and the two organizations will collaborate to deliver integrated cloud processing workflows, marrying traditional relational data storage, SQL queries, and analytics with computational statistics for large datasets.

The partnership brings the typical benefits of cloud services (accelerated workflow, high availability, computational scale, and low cost of ownership) to big data analytics, according to a statement from the companies. "Essentially we’ve brought big data and big compute cloud solutions together under one roof, simplifying data movement and automating cloud-based data processing," said Steve Hebert, CEO of Nimbix.

Nimbix offers its cloud computing service through the Nimbix Accelerated Compute Cloud Portal and through its Task Processing API, which enables enterprises to launch concurrent cloud processing tasks with a simple web command.

HUGEdata provides its analytic database as a cloud service, hosted service, and appliance. In addition to standard SQL, HUGEdata has incorporated many statistical and data mining functions into its database, allowing high-speed, in-database analytics.
