Jenzabar Unveils Jenzabar Social

Jenzabar, a provider of software, strategies, and services for higher education, has launched a new solution that designed to help colleges and universities leverage Facebook as a communications tool. The system, Jenzabar Social, debuted at the Educause 2012 conference in Denver this week.

Jenzabar Social is a solution that helps educational institutions connect to people through Facebook in a way that is more active and secure and "transforms static Facebook pages into a vibrant, active community," according to the company. It can also create private communities, so users can collaborate without the need for a Facebook account.

Jenzabar Social integrates directly with the Jenzabar enterprise resource planning (ERP) and learning management systems, so schools can automatically upload select information from the Jenzabar systems to Facebook and students can connect directly to courses in Jenzabar's LMS and share information with classmates through Facebook, without the need to become Facebook friends with each other. Users can also access Gradebook and Coursework securely through Jenzabar Social course communities that are integrated into the LMS.

Schools with multiple Facebook pages can use Jenzabar Social to combine them into a single view. They can also add better privacy settings and offer more secure online transactions, such as applications and donations.

Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York has been using an early version of Jenzabar Social. The school customized Jenzabar Social to match its Internet portal for brand consistency. In the future, the school will synchronize and customize its Facebook pages and use the tool to track activity within the social site.

Jenzabar Social is scheduled for release in 2013. Further information is available on the Jenzabar site.
