UNLV Athletic Center Goes HD

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has upgraded the control room of its Thomas & Mack Center to full HD production. The school uses its new system for video scoreboard presentations as well as to produce live and on-demand streaming events.

UNLV worked with Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS), a video and audio systems integrator based in Seattle, WA, on the upgrade project. The school's purchase included a "Ross Carbonite 2M switcher, Fujinon XA50x9.5BESM HD telephoto box style lens, and Utah Scientific UTAH-100/UDS router from ABS," according to a company statement. UNLV managed installation of the new equipment.

The new control room is used for all home basketball games as well as other events hosted at the facility. It was first used last October for an NBA exhibition game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings. The system has also been used for rodeo competitions and graduation ceremonies.

Additional information about ABS's solutions is available at the company's Web site.
