Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi Joins Sprint CNS's In-Building Wireless Data Portfolio

Ruckus Wireless and Sprint's Customer Network Solutions (CNS) group have partnered to offer Ruckus's carrier-class indoor and outdoor Smart Wi-Fi products as part of Sprint CNS's in-building wireless data solutions portfolio. According to the companies, the partnership will enable Sprint CNS to provide more reliable wireless connectivity, stronger signals, and extended Wi-Fi coverage.

Sprint's CNS group offers hardware, software, network transport, and professional integration services to help organizations improve in-building wireless coverage and capacity. With the increased number of mobile devices connecting to enterprise networks, organizations need managed Wi-Fi solutions that support higher capacity. According to a news release from Ruckus and Sprint, this combined solution "integrates best-in-class, carrier-grade Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi with Sprint CNS's in-building network capabilities in RF mitigation, deployment practices, and on-going project management and professional services."

Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion, OH implemented the technology three months ago. Mike Wellin, technology director for the Career Center said he has been impressed with the equipment's performance and said the school plans to expand the Ruckus footprint in its facility.

Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi is designed for high-capacity, carrier-grade deployments. According to the company, its Smart Wi-Fi access points focus, steer, and extend Wi-Fi signals only where service is needed, which enables the system to support more concurrent users. And because the system constantly adapts to environmental changes, it can increase the reliability and range of Wi-Fi signals.

"With Ruckus, we're expanding our in-building wireless portfolio in CNS with proven carrier-class Wi-Fi technology at a time when reliable wireless connectivity has never been more important," said Tim Donahue, vice president of solutions and international sales for Sprint, in a prepared statement. "Given the unprecedented importance that Wi-Fi now plays in a heterogeneous network topology, we want to give our enterprise and public sector customers the best possible wireless data experience in-building with products and technology purpose-built to deliver reliable, carrier-grade wireless performance."
