Ho Chi Minh City Open U Adds ERP Program to Business Curriculum

Students working toward degrees in business and finance at Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Open University will soon be getting hands-on experience in enterprise resource planning (ERP), thanks to a new partnership between the university and business software provider Epicor. The agreement was made public during a recent signing ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City.

HCMC is looking at the partnership as a way for its students to "gain practical knowledge from available virtual business models and apply it to real-life situations," according to Le Bao Lam, headmaster at the university. "HCMC Open University hopes to close the gap between theoretical study and practical experience for our students," said Lam in a prepared statement. "We believe this will better equip them for their careers upon graduation."

According to the agreement, Epicor will provide its ERP software to the institution and train faculty members on its use and features. The instructors will, in turn, train their students and provide them with opportunities to work with the ERP modules in finance, manufacturing, and distribution. The program is geared at students in business administration, finance, and accounting programs.

Epicor plans to hold on-going training and seminars at HCMC, according to the statement.
