Campus Technology Launches New Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) Newsletter
Chatsworth, CA — 1105 Media Education Group and Campus Technology, the nation’s leading magazine covering technology in higher education, today launched a new industry newsletter entitled MOOC News & Analysis.
The MOOC phenomenon is forcing schools to scramble to position themselves in an emerging market that is still not widely understood, and without a clear business model. And as the MOOC space rapidly evolves, variations of approach, scale, and goals are also emerging as colleges and universities, faculty, and students gain experience with this new style of instruction. Campus Technology has created MOOC News & Analysis to analyze the challenges facing higher education and chart the progress of MOOCs as they tackle the thorny issues of student retention, engagement, assessment, and certification.
This monthly online newsletter is designed for educators who want to stay on top of what's happening in the disruptive world of MOOCs and the potential impact on their institution. MOOC News & Analysis provides the trends and information needed to help chart the best course for open online education.
"In five years, MOOCs will probably look quite different from these early experiments," says Campus Technology Executive Editor Andrew Barbour, who will also edit MOOC News & Analysis. "Even so, given the unsustainable cost of education today, MOOCs will almost certainly force drastic changes in the way higher education currently operates. They are not a phenomenon that can be ignored."
