Texarkana College Selects ERP to Manage Campus, Cut Costs

Texarkana College will implement an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in an effort to slash costs, efficiently manage student information, and streamline business operations.

For the project, Texarkana selected Jenzabar EX, a fully scalable Microsoft SQL Server platform designed specifically for higher education operations.

The new platform will allow students and administrative and academic staff to access, update, store, and report on essential data through a common database and a complete suite of end-to-end, fully integrated modules. Because authorized users will be able to share real-time information across departments, the platform will streamline the workflow and optimize business processes. The Web-based portal will also allow students to communicate with staff and teachers, as well as manage their curriculum and academic progress.

Key Features include:

  • Management of student lifecycles from admissions through alumni development;
  • A full range of student information and business office modules;
  • Real-time online data available anytime via a campus portal;
  • Data security management;
  • Reporting and analytics tools; and
  • Integrated financial management.

"Jenzabar EX provides an intuitive user interface that makes learning and using the software much easier than other systems we evaluated. The student body will find the system easier to navigate," said Michael Dumdei, director of IT at Texarkana College, in a prepared statement. "Texarkana College will save a significant amount of time and money, and we will have a user-friendly system that can be easily managed and maintained."

Texarkana College is a publicly supported, two-year, community college that offers educational opportunities in traditional academic studies, occupational and technical programs, and workforce development and community services. Located about half way between the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and Little Rock, AK, Texarkana College sits on a 90-acre campus and includes a two-acre nature reserve and outdoor classroom. The college's operating budget for fiscal year 2014 is approximately $28 million.
