EdX Implementing Vital Source E-Textbook Platform

MOOC provider edX has selected the VitalSource Bookshelf e-textbook platform from Vital Source Technologies to distribute publisher content for its massive open online learning courses.

Through the integration of edX with VitalSource Bookshelf, students and educators can interact with course content and share notes and highlights with peers around the world. In an initial pilot, tens of thousands of students in three edX courses collectively viewed more than 500,000 e-textbook pages from content provider John Wiley & Sons, delivered via the Vital Source platform.

"This collaboration with Vital Source provides an additional tool for our students to work together no matter where in the world they may be." commented Anant Agarwal, edX CEO, in a prepared statement.
