Splashtop, Soliton Partner on Secure Remote Desktop Appliance

Splashtop, a provider of cross-device computing and collaboration solutions, has teamed with IT security provider Soliton to develop the Soliton SecureDesktop appliance.

Soliton SecureDesktop is based on Splashtop Enterprise and delivers the solution as a secure, scalable appliance, according to a news release from the companies. Soliton SecureDesktop enables students, faculty and staff to access school files, applications and desktops — both physical and virtual — from any device running iOS, Android, Windows or Mac operating systems, through a secure remote access connection. To access resources remotely, users must install Splashtop Center on their device.

According to Nobuo Kamata, president and CEO of Soliton, bring-your-own-device (BYOD) initiatives have created a need for organizations to provide highly secure remote access to data and applications. Soliton SecureDesktop is intended to fill that need.

Key features of the Soliton SecureDesktop appliance include:

  • Integration with Soliton's "robust and secure" NAOS operating system for Soliton appliances;
  • Digital certificate authentication for BYOD mobility;
  • Support for remote connections from iOS, Android, Windows and Mac devices;
  • Multimedia streaming at 30 frames per second, with less than 30 milliseconds of latency and synchronized audio; and
  • Secure, on-premise administration console.

Further information about Splashtop Enterprise, on which Soliton SecureDesktop is based, can be found on Splashtop's site.
